Alex Vargas Releases ‘Giving Up The Ghost’ Single Ahead of New European Autumn Tour and EP

alex vargasRising electro soul vocalist/producer and songwriter Alex Vargas has released a new track called ‘Giving Up The Ghost’ ahead of his forthcoming EP, also titled ‘Giving Up The Ghost’, which is out on 22nd January, 2016; a spacey electronic soul jam that is uniquely reminiscent of artists such as D’Angelo, Frank Ocean and Honne.

The single and EP will follow his critically acclaimed tracks to Till Forever Runs Out, and Solid Ground, which received radio support from respected DJs Annie Mac and Jo Whiley, and over a million plays on Spotify in Europe.

‘Giving Up The Ghost’ was mixed by producer / engineer Dan Grech, whose skills have been utlised on hits by R&B superstars including Outkast, Big Boi, Nelly, Beyonce and Janelle Monae.

The new track is a sample-ladenslice of emotional future R&B-soul, beginning with a kazoo like vocal sample hook, which will buzz around your head for days. The verse showcases Alex’s measured soulful vocal approach alongside a stabby piano hook and jittery offbeat boom clap drums.

The half-British and half-Danish artist was born in Copenhagen and he moved to London in his teens. He launched his music career in the late noughties forming the indie pop group Vagabond who enjoyed some critical acclaim. However, Alex became disillusioned with the manufactured feel to the project and decided to disband and go solo. In the coming years he began to explore a more electronic direction, which came to fruition when he met Tommy Sheen, a young music producer from Leeds. Together they perfected their electronic-soul, guitar driven melodic pop sound (or noise soul as Alex calls it) which has garnered critical acclaim.

Alex Vargas will be embarking on a new European tour this autumn that will visit cities across the UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark and Switzerland.
