Dreaming of Summer with the Divoom Bluetune-solo

Bluetune-soloThe recent sunny weather in the UK has no doubt given people that summer feeling and thoughts are drawn to forthcoming sunny days at the beach, music festivals in fields, and picnics in the park.

None of these activities would be complete without your own music playlist blaring out summer tunes, whether it’s on an iPod, MP3 player or iPhone, and portable speakers are more advanced and affordable than ever.

Gone are the days when you have to carry a ghetto blaster on your shoulder to the beach or borrowing your dad’s retro speakers to put in the boot of your car at a festival. Speakers now come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes to suit all budgets, and you don’t have to cut back on the quality.

The Bluetune-solo from Divoom is a handy little Bluetooth speaker about the size of a small can of sweetcorn that has sleek design and surprisingly good sound quality for its size and price.

With a 4W speaker output, the Bluetune-solo has the patented ŒX-Bass Sound System that provides deep bass in a compact and sleek package. The all-in-one button is located on the top of the speaker and the Bluetooth speakers connect wirelessly to other Bluetooth devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops and even other speakers to create an enhanced wireless audio experience. For those who don’t have Bluetooth, there is a handy auxiliary-in port that can be used to plug in MP3 players or other devices using the cable provided.

One great feature is the built in microphone so you can take hands-free calls without having to adjust your devices.

The built-in rechargeable battery last for up to 8 hours of playtime which makes it perfect for small gatherings at home or BBQs in the summer. The speaker is then charged using a USB cable which can easily be connected to a laptop or USB plug adapter.

The Bluetune-solo comes in a wide range of bright colours including slate, purple, rusty orange, white, red and blue and it is available from Tesco, Shop Direct and Staples, priced at just £39.99 RRP.

While this speaker might not be enough to fill a house with music on its own, so far, I’ve found it perfect for listening to my music in my house and on the beach with friends and the clarity is great even when the volume is up high. It’s the ideal size to pop in my suitcase for when I travel too and I don’t have to worry about the additional weight to my already-exceeded baggage allowance.

Pros
The quality of the sound
The size
Bluetooth features
Sleek design

Cons
On/Off button underneath the speaker
Loud beeping noise when you turn it on
