Soundwave Croatia Announces Music and Art for 2015


Soundwave-Croatia 1Soundwave Croatia, one of Europe’s most friendly and intimate festivals, returns for its 7th year this August, along with a new live art and film programme to its eclectic musical offering.

From 6th to 10th August, 2015, Jay Electronica will join acts including Detroit hip-hop group Slum Village, celebrated British producer and DJ Mr Scruff, British soul singers Alice Russell & Fatima, drum & bass legends LTJ Bukem and DJ Marky, the legendary Channel One Soundsystem, one of the world’s most respected selectors Alexander Nut and the man that brought the soul to dubstep, one half of Digital Mystikz, and the Deep Medi boss, the inimitable Mala.

Soundwave has also launched a new Art Programme for 2015. In a Soundwave first, 18 street artists and illustrators from across Croatia and the rest of Europe will be invited to transform the walls of apartments and buildings across the festival site into living, evolving pieces of art alongside creative collective BestJoinedUp. Confirmed artists include: renowned UK street artist Will Barras who’ll be painting a large-scale one off piece, and from Serbia, celebrated street artist Artez. BestJoinedUp will be hosting a free art trail with a chance to own exclusive works being created at the festival.

Also recently announced; the five route Run to the Sun party tours, a collection of mall, intimate parties across Europe in the lead up to the festival, calling at cities including Berlin, Paris, Krakow, Amsterdam, and Budapest. The parties are completely free to attend and all start off on the 3rd or 4th of August, ending in Croatia on 6th August.

There will also be the introduction of a film programme including an independent and Croatian cinema showcase, offering an open cinema experience for the duration.

One bonus feature is that Soundwave Festival now coincides with The Tisno International Donkey Racing Championships, a long-running yearly event that takes place in the village featuring entries from across the globe competing for this heralded championship award.

Aside from enjoying a holiday soundtrack provided by an ever evolving line-up of global musicians, club nights and boat parties, festival-goers can also spend time snorkeling, diving, renting a boat or taking a trip around the islands, to sample the local cuisine or visit one of the nearby national parks such as Krka .

Heralded as one of “Europe’s Best Music Festivals” by The Independent, Soundwave is set in a secret cove at the heart of the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, the idyllic fishing town of Tisno is a beautiful backdrop to one of the original Croatian festivals. The festival is spread over five days, three festival stages, the Argonaughty ship, and legendary open air after-party spot, Barbarella.

Soundwave-Croatia-2As well as offering opportunities to camp, Soundwave encourages its festival-goers to explore the setting by taking apartments in the town. The festival sits neatly between Zadar and Split airports, allowing revellers to fly in from all over Europe.

Curated by one of London’s finest Independent promoters Rob Waller/Soundcrash, alongside one of the managing directors and curators of Outlook & Dimensions Festivals, Noah Ball, Soundwave has time and again stood out as an event for people searching for a sunshine holiday, accompanied by beautiful surroundings and great music.
